Poultry as a passion

Chicken is a delicacy in the part of the world where I come from. This means that if you ever visited a home and chicken was not part of the menu, then you may not be as important as you think you are. It, therefore, goes without saying that each family ought to have poultry in their backyard always.

Every function in the village meant that I needed to buy a chicken which was quite costly, especially when it is being sold to a person who stays in the city (it is believed people who live in cities have a lot of money). This infused in me a desire to keep poultry for my own personal consumption

The journey began with a passion for table chicken for personal consumption and ended up in poultry as a business

Watching my “kukus” jump up and down as they grow from chicks to mature ones gives me a joy that can not be quantified in monetary terms. Poultry keeping has a deeply calming effect on my nerves that gives me a feeling of satisfaction.

Many people venture into poultry farming for the money leaving behind the passion aspect involved. You can only enjoy keeping poultry if your heart is in it as applies to me

Not only do I keep chicken, but I also keep turkey, quails, and Guinea fowl. My desire is to have all kinds of birds on my farm for consumption and for ornamental purposes

Poultry keeping is fun
